inLois Saunders (1856-1942) was born in England, and moved to Canada at the age of 25. Eventually, she became the first full-time librarian at Queen’s University. This poem, “The End of the Road,” was printed at the bottom of her obituary, which Deirdre Bryden at Queen’s archives found in The Queen’s Review (August 1942, pp. 167-70). She sent the information to Dr. Eva-Marie Kröller at the University of British Columbia, who kindly sent it on to us.
