Beauty

She was not beautiful—
A rather stodgy, colorless old maid,
Not finely dressed,
Two summer suns had caused her coat to fade.
Yet as I watched her guiding by the arm
An aged mother, tending to her needs,
Watching with slightly wistful gaze
The others who were free,
Her face seemed beautiful to me.
